BADG April Reign: Bay Area double header (Richmond Wrecking Belles vs Oakland Outlaws and SF ShEvil Dead vs Berkely Resistance)

This was a double header featuring Bay Area's league teams. I believe this was Berkeley's first inter-league bout (vs the SF ShEvil Dead).

Santa Cruz Derby Groms vs Silicon Valley Roller Girls 2.0 double header

This was my second double header of the weekend, so after a while, since the team colors in the second bout were the same as the first bout, it all sort of blurred together.  Santa Cruz's two teams (black/blue) played Silicon Valley's two teams (white/green).  Bumber Scars vs The Micro Chicks and Sugar Skulls vs The Web Bruisers.

Neither bout was full contact, but there was some pretty aggressive positional blocking and some nicely executed hip-checks.  These groms/girls are learning what some fans (like myself) were kinda slow to learn.  Good derby strategery doesn't always involve killing your opponent. Sometime just getting in the way is good enough.

We also have grom refs in Santa Cruz (we have a full-fledged junior roller derby ref program, and I've heard a rumor that there are some grom roller derby announcers in training).

Jet City comes to town to bout against Silicon Valley and Santa Cruz, in SCDG's secret lair (it's a west-side warehouse).

Next up, an intense bout between the Jet City B-52's (white)  and the Silicon Valley Killabytes (green). These are each leagues respective "B-Teams"
